Lee College Huntsville Center Academic Calendar
The prison education setting is characterized by frequent disruptions due to lockdowns and procedural issues that interfere with the movement of students to and from classrooms. Students in undergraduate transferrable courses (Academic courses) like English, math, history, business, etc., are generally able to study their textbooks even when class attendance is disrupted, so the academic calendar for undergraduate transferrable courses follows the same calendar as the main campus. Students in undergraduate non-transferrable courses (Technical courses) like welding, truck driving, horticulture, cabinet making, culinary arts etc. cannot progress in their learning when class attendance is disrupted, so a rolling academic calendar is used for undergraduate non-transferrable courses: a new term starts about two weeks after the previous term ended, and the new term goes for as many weeks as is needed for students to receive the required amount of instructional time. Thus, there are no fixed start and end dates for future terms. The calendar shown below is just for academic courses.
